Java Climate Model

Your browser does not recognise the Applet tag, please enable java (see problems with java).
The applet above checks your version of Java. JCM should continue loading automatically if you are using a recent version of Explorer (IExplorer 5+) or a Sun-Java plugin (included in Netscape 7, Opera, and most other browsers).

If not, you can click here to load the model, after reading the note below.

Please note: With Netscape 4.x there are so many variants of the Java Virtual Machine, I no longer make an effort to check it, preferring to spend time developing the climate science. The performance of NS4 JVM is also very slow, especially on on Unix/Linux. Please update your browser: Netscape v7 incorporates Sun Java and works well.

You can also run JCM without any web browser, if you download a "Java Runtime Environment" from java.sun.com (you may find this is already installed on many systems). The standalone version of JCM now displays the html documentation too, and also can save/load data locally. This can now be run just by clicking on jcm.jar from the latest jcm package. Or if you want to use Sun's AppletViewer (without any documentation), point it to www.chooseclimate.org/jcm/openav.html
